Absofoam is used in moist wound healing techniques, based on polyurethane (= hydropolymer), an absorbent material that does not gel, and silicone.

Appearance: It comes as a square or rectangular dressing consisting of a double-layer central pad:

• polyurethane foam,
• non-woven veil.

The wound-facing side is covered with a siliconized surface for atraumatic removal.

The side opposite the wound is a polyurethane film permeable to gas exchange and waterproof.

Indications:

Dressing designed to maintain the wound in a moist environment to optimize exudate management.

This dressing is suitable for acute and chronic wounds with low exudate levels, from granulation to epidermization (e.g., pressure ulcers, ulcers, dermabrasions...).
