What is curcumin? For centuries, turmeric, this vibrant orange-yellow tuber, has been considered in Asia a precious plant of particular importance. The root gives dishes, for example as a component of curry spices, their characteristic aroma. The vibrant color is due to natural curcuminoids, mainly curcumin. Furthermore, turmeric plays a special role in many traditional applications.

However, curcumin has low water solubility, which means that the body struggles to absorb it in sufficient quantities. This is why it is often combined with additional substances like piperine or polysorbate in turmeric-based preparations to improve absorption. Furthermore, it can irritate the stomach and intestines and cause discomfort in sensitive people, such as nausea, heartburn, or diarrhea.

Free from polysorbate: polysorbates are synthetic solubilizing agents (emulsifiers). They are increasingly criticized due to potential health risks regarding intestinal health and allergies.
